Enjoying Vegas 4-17-12

Before I write about the day I have been asked to explain who Roady is.  Roady is a stuffed Panda bear.  He is a build a bear from Texas.  He was given to Kathryn by Mitches family who live in Texas.  Mitch is a young man who lived with us from September to December of 2004.  In December he moved to Colorado where his family had moved.  After he graduated in May of 2005 he moved back in with us and stayed until he went to college in September.  When Richard moved to Bellingham in 2007 Mitch and Richard became roommates and have been every since.  Kathryn moved in with Richard, Mitch and Lucas in September of 2009 and lived with them until she moved home in Oct of 2011.  Mitch is like a brother to a Richard and Kathryn. We call him S2 for son 2.   So, Roady is a symbol for Kathryn in a way.  Roady is our way of sharing our trip.  Roady and pinky the blanket comfort me at night as I sleep.  Pinky is Kathryn’s pink baby blanket that she took everywhere with her.

Roady had fun going to the strip with us.  He played the slot machines and watch me win!  I left while I was ahead.  He also went to the car museum with us.   He had his picture taken with a couple of show girls and Scott.  He also had his picture taken with me and Buzz Light year and Woody from Toy Story.  We had a lot of fun doing this.

Our day started out with a free breakfast and owner education.  We bought into WorldMark back in 1994 and have taken many family vacations with it.  We hope for many more.  We can hand this down to Richard and he can hand it down to his kids and it goes on and on.  At our class the lady who worked with us lost her 22 year old daughter 2 years ago.  So we started with something in common.  We shared a little of our stories and all of us became a little teary eyed.  Shortly after her loss she moved.  Not just from the house but from California to Las Vegas.  Her whole life changed.  He daughter was murdered.  I think this would have been much harder to handle than the way Kathryn passed away.  The terror her daughter must of suffered the last few moments must have been terrible.  I couldn’t imagine that being the way my baby died.   I think these things are purposely shared with me to help me feel better.  These things keep coming to my attention to remind me that Kathryn was taken from me peacefully.  God mad it gentle.  For that I am very grateful.

After attending our owners education class we went to the strip.  We played some slots and I won a little money.  It may pay for a couple of tanks of gas Yeah!.  Then we went to the car museum and then played the slots some more.  On our way back to the shuttle we had pictures taken with show girls and Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story.  Then we came home and took a swim and soaked up a little sun.  It was very nice.

We also met up with my cousin Toots, her husband Tom, my other cousin Clint and his daughter Paige.  We had dinner at Toots and Tom’s house and just had a nice relaxing evening.  I love visiting relatives. We talked about Kathryn and I didn’t really cry.  I felt the water in my eyes but I was able to hold it back. Toots and Clint were two of my cousins that we would visit in South Dakota.  I loved hanging out with them on the farm when I was a kid.  Both of them lived at my parents house for a while.  My parents had a lot of people live with them over the years and I really enjoyed it.  Toots and I shared a room for a while.  I thought it was great.  It was like having a big sister (I don’t have any sisters).  I loved having Clint with us too.  He actually let me run the swather, that’s the big machine that cuts the hay.  His lines were so nice and straight and mine… well they weren’t so straight.   I loved doing things on the farm with both of them. Oh, the good old days.

We head out to Tuson tomorrow.

Good Night
